This week we wanted to take a step back from paint corrections and detailing to give you a glimpse of what all is involved in a full color-change vinyl wrap job.
To do this job properly, many things need to be done. Most importantly, the car needs to be cleaned and prepped so that it is smooth and contaminant free. This will allow the vinyl to fully adhere and lay down neatly. Next is disassembling the vehicle. Now this step isn't required and in fact many installers don't, but in our experience the the cleanest outcome comes from disassembling the car. This allows us to better wrap edges and finish corners. Once everything is prepped and disassembled we can begin laying down the vinyl.
Before we get started with the photos it's important to understand why someone would vinyl wrap their car. Vinyl wrap is not meant to replace paint and there will almost always be small imperfections when doing an install. With that being said, vinyl wrap is perfect if you're looking for a non-permanent way to change up the look of your car. Vinyl is 100% removable and does not damage the paint underneath when installed correctly. Vinyl also costs a fraction of what a nice quality paint job would and the turnaround time is much quicker.
Let's get to it:
Small parts from the car are removed allowing us to hide seams create a cleaner install.
The vinyl is cut to size before the adhesive backing is removed and the film is placed loosely onto the panel. From there the installer stretches and shapes the film to fit before finally laying it down. Edges are wrapped and seams are strategically hidden before putting the vehicle back together.
This is an excellent way to completely transform how your car looks. The best part? It's completely reversible and costs a fraction of what a nice quality paint job would.
